Recognizing Digital Excellence in Sri Lanka !
Sri Lanka’s national award for recognizing digital excellence, e-Swabhimani offers a platform for those who value creative use of ICTs and who are committed to making today’s information society more inclusive. The Award, an initiative of the Information Communication Technology Agency has been gathering momentum since it was launched 4 years ago.. The e-Swabhimani Award 2012 attracted 220 nominations, up from 150 the previous year. Considering the size and population of the Country this was considered good progress. Awards were presented to 22 Winners and 5 Merits awardees at a colorful ceremony held at the Oak Room of the Cinnamon Grand in Colombo on the 10th of January. In recognition of the significant interest among the youth for developing digital content and application a special award - the Youth Encouragement Award was offered to the most promising young developer. The e-Swabhimani Grand Jury which comprised senior experts across all domains and included representatives from India and Pakistan were unanimous in their view that the quality of products submitted to the e-Swabhimani Award 2012 was very high.
